Reasoning by Analogy:
Example: Is a peach more like an orange or a banana?
Sign Reasoning:
When the school fire alarm is going off, everyone should exit the building.
Casual Reasoning:
Everyone in the car accident was injured in the car accident and had to go to the hospital. The car was traveling over 50 mph when it crashed, so everyone was hurt.
Reasoning by Example:
You should have your driver’s license if you are 20 years old. Since you do not have your license then you are going to have to rely on everyone else for rides.
Reasoning by Criteria:
I really like country music, so my mom bought me a concert ticket to Jason Aldean for my birthday.
Inductive: I have class at 8:30 am on Monday’s and wake up at 7:50 to get ready. So next Monday, I will wake up at 7:50 to get ready for my class that is at 8:30.
Deductive Reasoning:
Everyone who joins the Marines must take a drug test in order to pass. Tom is going to join the Marines, so he must take a drug test.
There are many different types of reasoning, and you touched on them very well. Reasoning by analogy was a good example. Sign reasoning also was a good example, the fire alarm is an indicator of the conclusion, which you directed to the audience very well in a well complete sentence. Casual reasoning where cause and effect occurs, because of the car accident people had to go to the hospital. Also, reasoning by example had a good example because we presume that the individual is 20 years old they are legal for a driver's license, because they don't they need someone else for a ride. You did a good job on providing examples.
ReplyDeleteI think you touched on each type of reasonings very well. The fire alarm example for reasoning by sign was on point because the ire alarm was the indicator of the conclusion. You also used a good example with reasoning by criteria because you used facts to come up with a reason for why a mother would get a gift for wr child. I also noticed that we used similar examples when it came to inductive reasoning. I also used time to explain my example. You also used a good example with deductive reasoning. Using the military and a drug test was very simple and easy to understand.
